Kindergarten
The Co-operative's Kindergarten program offers a creative, educational and caring environment for children in their pre-school year. The program aims to challenge, promote self esteem and develop social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical skills to enable children to confidently and competently approach the next phase of their lives. A more detailed brochure is available from the office.
Annual Closure
The long day care service is open 50 weeks per year and closed for 2 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. Parents will be informed of the actual dates of closure in November of each year. There is no child care fee charged during the period of the annual closure.
The Kindergarten operates for 40 weeks per year during the primary school term periods.
The centre will close on the following Public Holidays;
- Australia Day
- Labour Day
- Good Friday and Easter Monday
- Anzac Day
- Melbourne Cup Day
- Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Years Day are included in the annual closure period.
Parents are required to pay their normal fee for child care even if a public holiday falls on your child's usual day for child care, except when the public holiday falls during the period of the annual closure.
Meals & Menus
We provide a prepared meal each day which meets the nutritional needs of children. Meals consist of morning tea, afternoon tea, lunch. A four week menu is displayed in the foyer and in the children's rooms for parents' information.
Toilet Training
The practice we apply in regard to toilet training is to respond to the developmental stage and needs of each child. Parents and staff will discuss the process when appropriate.
Sleep/Rest Time For Children
Rest and sleep time in the centre is very important in the
children's busy day. However, this routine
is designed to be flexible and respond to the needs of individual
children.
Excursions
Excursions are organised from time to time and are an important part of the child program. Permission from parents is required for children to participate in an excursion. The required number of staff to child ratio is maintained at all times on any excursion and so parents are most welcome to participate and are a great help.Photographs
The enrolment form has a clause requesting general permission from parents for photos to be taken of their children. Photographs of the children are used for displays and albums. Parents can decide not to give this permission if they wish.
Birthdays
Parents are welcome to participate in the celebration of their child's birthday at the centre. If you wish to provide a party please do not bring soft drinks, chips or sweets however a plain birthday cake is welcome. This is best arranged in advance with the staff in your child's room.
Hats & Sun Screen
We are extremely aware of the dangers of exposure to the sun and we apply sun-screen when appropriate to children who are out doors. Hats are also required to be worn at all time when out doors. We have a the policy of 'No Hat No Outdoor Play'; Speak to the staff member in your child's room about other ways of being 'sunsmart'.
Use of Nappies
The service provides cloth nappies through a nappy wash service.
